Mayo were playing Dublin in Croke Park last weekend and with it being a Saturday evening match with throw in at 7pm, it was a opportunity to spend the weekend in Dublin. I had planned to visit both Clontarf Castle and Malahide Castle on the Sunday, and in the process, marking off two more Castles off of my list of Castles to visit and photograph. unfortunately I did not have time to Clontarf Castle.

If ever you are anywhere near Mahahide and have an hour or two to spare, I would highly recommend a visit both to Malahide Castle and the Castle grounds. Although it was still springtime, the ground looked stunning and were impeccably kept.

We were fortunate that while we were there, a youth orchestra were giving a free performance in the museum/gift shop area. I still have not found out who they were, but they were brilliant! I must have spent an hour listening to them, highly enjoyable.

The lighting was very difficult in the above shot. There was a glass wall and ceiling & the sun was extremely bright and shinning straight in. There are some closer shots in the slide show below using different settings.
