Mutton Lane Cork

We were back in Mutton Lane Cork last week, when we were there for the start of the football league. This time around I had my camera with me to get some proper shots of Mutton Lane!

Mutton Lane is just one of the many entrance’s into the English Market which is located just off Patrick Street in the heart of Cork City. The Mutton Inn pub is also located here, on the top left of the photo above.

Above is the view from the Mutton Inn entrance out onto Patrick Street. It was early on Sunday morning when I got down to get these shots. I was lucky as there are usually quite a lot of people here photographing the murals. It also helped the the pub was closed as it alone draws huge crowds!

The mural at Mutton Lane is mesmerising and never seizes to amaze! Every time I’m in Cork I just have to call to see it, and see if it has been changed any. It is very very easy to miss the Mutton Lane. As you can see it is quite narrow, standing in the middle of the lane with both arms extended out, you can almost touch both walls!

If ever you are in Cork city, I would highly recommend a visit to the English Market, (stay away from the handmade chocolate stand, your pocket will be a lot lighter and you a bit heavier!) and especially Mutton Lane. I’d also recommend the guinness in the Mutton Inn. The English Market though does not open on a Sunday. Mutton Lane can be quite difficult to find, as well as being quite narrow, its located between two buildings about halfway down Patrick Street, on the left opposite Golden Discs building. Next time I’m back in Mutton lane I must remember to bring my wide angle lens.
