Eagles Flying – Project 52 #33
On a recent photo outing with Swinford Camera Club one of the places we visited was Eagles Flying. Eagles Flying is located between Tubbercurry and Ballymote in County Sligo. Situated on 27 hectares, the centre was established as a research facility originally in 1999. The centre is now home to about 350 Eagles, Hawks and Owls to name a few. It is also home to various other animals including a 16 ft snake!
Photo: f/4, 1/800 sec, ISO-100, @40 mm.
The photo of the Owl above is one of hundreds of shots that I took at Eagles Flying. I also entered it in the photo competition “Close Encounters” confined section at Swinford Agricultural show last weekend and got 3rd prize for it!
Eagles Flying is the largest centre of birds of prey and Owls in the country and I would highly recommend a visit. They are stunning birds and we were very fortunate with the weather on the day. It stayed dry and they put on a full show for the camera club. We got to see and photograph the Eagles, Hawks and Owls in full flight!
