With the Christmas and New Year festivities now behind us, we are into a new year and a new beginning with Mayo Gaa. Our U-21’s did us proud today in the Hastings Cup up in Killeo in Longford, winning Mayo’s first match of the year, beating Longford on a scoreline of 2-14 to 0-12. As I didn’t make the match today, you can find a report and discussions over on Willie Joe’s Blog.
The journey for us Mayo fans starts all over again next Friday evening when we meet Nuig in the first round of the FBD league. We were scheduled to play them this Sunday, but with the lads out on a well earned team holiday in Dubai, the match was put back to next Friday evening @ 7.30 in Mc Hale Park. I’ll hope to have the photos uploaded to the site later that night. The U-21’s will be back in action again the following day when they will play Cavan in the centre of excellence Bekan. Throw in time for that match is 2 pm. I don’t think I’ll be able to make that match yet. The Seniors will be back in action again then on Sunday next, when they play Sligo IT in the second round of the FBD league. Throw in time for that match is down for 2 pm in Charlestown. Busy weekend next for Mayo GAA!
